Vintage Penncrest Stereo Console with Upgrades & Bluetooth — $1,100
Early 1970s Penncrest stereo console with a walnut cabinet and built-in speakers. Penncrest was JCPenney’s house brand, built by respected U.S. manufacturers, and this unit has been carefully serviced, upgraded, and tested so it’s ready for daily enjoyment.
Turntable: Upgraded to a Modular Component Systems 6502 belt-driven automatic turntable with a brand-new belt. I specifically chose this model with a wood-grain finish so it blends seamlessly with the original vintage aesthetic.
Electronics: Original solid-state tuner and amplifier cleaned, treated, and tested. Smooth operation with no hum or distortion. Capacitors remain in good shape.
Speakers: Built-in stereo speakers tested and rewired where needed — strong, balanced output.
Bluetooth: Discreetly integrated so you can stream wirelessly through the console. (Final Bluetooth component is in the mail — the console will be ready for pickup starting Saturday the 4th or any time after.)
Record Storage: Inside the cabinet is a built-in slot for holding a small stack of vinyl records, a feature many consoles lack and one that’s highly desirable for practical use.
Condition
Top refinished — smooth and clean overall, with a touch of natural blotchiness in the grain.
Cabinet shows light age wear, mostly along the front lip where the lid opens. Overall, the wood is rich and presents beautifully.
Interior is clean and ready to use.
Service Work Performed
Interior cleaned and controls treated
One speaker wire replaced
Turntable installed with new belt (wood-grain finish to match)
Bluetooth added (final part arriving this week)
Fully tested — everything works well
Price: $1,100
A stylish and functional vintage console with modern upgrades and thoughtful design choices to preserve the original look. The built-in record storage makes it even more practical and desirable. Rare to find one in this condition, serviced and Bluetooth-ready.
